During the selection process for the new City Manager of Deerfield Beach, Commissioner Bernie Parness took the laziest approach a city official could have taken. With over 41 candidates for the City Manager position, a position that overseas $180 million budget, 78,000 residents, and over 100 city employees, Bernie Parness only short listed one name: David Santucci, (current Assistant City Manager). The other Commissioners all short listed 5 names. (which was the proper procedure)
On Aug 20th, While all the other Commissioners went through the criteria and qualifications of each candidate, Commissioner Parness only kept saying one name. This begs the question if he even looked closely at the other WELL qualified candidates.
In fact, when the candidates were short listed down to 5 candidates, ALL 4 other candidates were MUCH MORE qualified than David Santucci.
Now to answer the question of Why Commissioner Bernie Parness is like a Blob Fish? Wikipedia explains that a blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. Commissioner Bernie Parness is a gelatinious mass just collecting a paycheck of over $35,000, expanding the least amount of energy on our City. Commissioner Parness = Blobfish.
Because of his blobfish ways, our city will suffer.
For such an important position, we the residents want the MOST qualified candidate to do the job. Anything less than finding the right candidate for Deerfield Beach City Manager can be considered incompetence.

You guys were just as lazy and do nothing when it came to the elections elections for Commissioner in District 3. He does look like a blobfish. Good call on that one! BTW..the blowfish has no academic credentials. Do you really think he has the capacity to research?
